The Droid has a car dock and the Google Nav service is pretty amazing. The only thing missing is SOG which isn't a big deal but fun to compare to the speedometer. Google voice search is pretty amazing too. Accuracy is way up there. With as good as this technology is getting, voice transcription is damned near usable for writing but it's certainly a paradigm leap. I used the GPS on Saturday while driving to Bethesda to the Greek festival. I already knew the route, and the phone not only showed the same route, but vocalized it, too. I believe there either is a car dock, or one is coming. I like the fact that you can set up several "home pages" on the incredible. My "second" home page has some interesting apps that wither were included with the phone or were downloaded. My main home page is uncluttered. The touch screen is very sensitive and takes getting used to before you can use it smoothly and without error. I don't know it compare to the Incredible, but the Nexus in just too dainty for me. I feel like it's going to pop out of my hands when I've held it. The Droid is on the other end of the spectrum. A metal brick that's on the verge of too dense. I actually prefer the video keyboard but use both. The physical keyboard doesn't have the word suggestions for when your fingers go awry. I like that feature since it's a lot easier to hit the right word than backspace and retype. There's a ton of cool programs, most of them are tweaks but a few really are productivity enhancing. These things are getting so powerful, they're really on the verge of becoming full featured miniature computers. Someday there'll be a monitor and keyboard port and it'll be fighting for your laptop dollars. I put a bumpy skin cover on mine, and a screen protector on the front. It gives the phone a heftier feel. -- The Tea Party's teabaggers are just the Republican base by another name. |
