I got a used Motor Guide Brute.. Where the SS (?) chromed shaft goes
through the aluminum clamp, it is firmly in there. I cannot get it to
twist. (Yes, yeah, I did loosen the nuts.) I put some sewing machine oil
on there and left it to flow vertically. Is PB Blaster better? Should I
put a pipe wrench on it? Waiting for it to move on its own rather than
brutalizing it. IT doesn't appear, even with dissimilar metals that there
is any galling, and this is a freshwater application.

PB Blaster is good and available everywhere.

Aero Kroil is better but must be ordered on the web.

Supposedly best of all, but I haven't yet tried it, is a 50/50 mixture
of acetone and transmission fluid. Acetone is highly flammable of
course.

With all the above, apply, tap lightly with a small hammer, wait,
repeat.

When all else fails try carefully heating the aluminum with a propane
torch.

Stainless and aluminum are not really compatible. They tend to form a
white corrosion in the aluminum. There is a teflon product that helps
but you need to keep it in there.

Heat and a penetrating solvent ... not at the same time.
Be aware of the flash point of what you are using. You don't need a
lot of heat, just enough to draw in the solvent as it cools.
PB Blaster is OK but so is good old WD40 on aluminum.

There is also a product called "Cold Shock"

the idea is that the metals will shrink at different rates.

Apply heat to the aluminum collar. It will expand, and that could do
the job.

Please do not split hairs. I was just trying to describe it. I am a welder
of going on forty years now. I KNOW it's not stainless. I am
ABSOLUTELYFREAKINGLUTELY POSITIVE, though, that the clamp is aluminum.

Went out this morning to see if the PB Blaster had done anything. On closer
inspection, I find that there are TWO fasteners holding this together. It
is just that the first, a 1/4 - 20 with a triangular twist nut has been
replaced with a machine screw and nut. The other triangular one is in
place. Take a straight slot, and the seizure problem is fixed. Now, where
do I find those three winged plastic 1/4 - 20 closures ..............
