Seems good. A US firm was charging about the same price and throwing in a
cover for when the bimini is folded up.
Trouble is, duties& hassels importing would offset this $45.00 extra.
I talked to a local fabricator at our February boat show and he estimated
he'd need $800.00-$1000.00 for his version, which was all 7/8" stainless
steel tubing.
That seemed a bit much for a modest open aluminum boat.

purpose. They sell the tracks in pairs in your choice of 2', 3' or 4'
lengths.
You could then slide the main frame tubing forward or backward when the
bimini is up or down.



If the bimini is mounted correctly you shouldn't need a track unless the
boat is so large that the rear support is too far forward.

windshield, and the track allows you slide the rig back far enough to go
behind the engine dog house. So there are other reasons to have a slide.

I don't usually keep the top on my boat. I got one that zips up on the
frame so I keep the top in a box on the dock and the frame hangs from
the roof of my boathouse. It takes about 5 minutes to set it up.
That keeps the canvas out of the weather and it should last forever.
Most of the time we just use the umbrella. A redneck T top.

The bimini is good when you have a boat full of people but it tends to
hold the motor noise in.

Those pontoons are atrocious. When are you going to clean them? Tim will have
some good tips on how to do it when he finishes his. :)

My Chris Craft 18 ft. Scorpion has sliders on the side, and the bimini
can be tucked into its own compartment under a bolster jsut right
behind the engine compartment. I'd love to find a factory rag top for
it but seeing it hasn't been made for several years, PLUS Chris Craft
has changed hands so many times, I think my hunt will be in vain.

Sounds right. I have mine set up for good low speed maneuvering in
tight spots. The steering is on a shorter than stock bracket so it
turns farther than stock, about 50 degrees of dead ahead so this will
turn in about 2 boat lengths. If I can work a little wind or tide I
can do it in a bit more than the length of the boat. Handy when you
are back in the mangroves.
I run out about 23-24 MPH with just me and the dog, fairly empty boat.
It seems to collect stuff so now that is more like 22. Most of the
time I am slow speed to about 16-18 occasionally and I burn between

Exactly. It you had a smaller boat, the pivot point for the rear brace
would be far enough back for it to stow near the transom.

The OP has a Princecraft and they are relatively small boats that may
not need the slide.

Most good upholstery shops can make you a cover. Easier if you have the old
one.

According to the company rep... in smaller open boats, some people find the
frame collapses on top of the motor if set up in the favoured running
position.
The slides allow you to pick the best position for when the top is being
used and when it's down.
I opted for the solid control rods so on a cloudy day, I can run with the
main frame up but folded.
