At least the POS you bought is somewhat made in the USA. Better than a Titan, but it's still Government Motors. Maybe one day you can step up and buy the last American made truck, a Ford, something that's not sucking off the government teat. Hey, there's always hope... |

VW When I took my '02 7.3L Superduty in on the last cruise control recall I got to talking with the diesel service manager about the new diesel and he told me that it was to be built in Brazil. It will be interesting to see how it works out usually first year new products have teething problems. I doubt I will be getting a new one anyway I've only got about 48K on the one I have now and it pulls our 28' sailboat and 24'TT just fine. Jim --- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - Yeah, man. Actually all of tucks outsource a lot of them. Japanese, Brazilian, Mexican, Canadian, engines, transmissions, electrics, and the list goes on...... |

Dodge is so watered down it's hard to tell what they are, GM is a socialist gov owned entity that can't find their ass with both hands tied behind their back. Ford is the last well-run, independant American car company left. And they make great vehicles! |

Consistency seems to be the ingredient that's missing. I rented a ford fusion recently. I wanted to rent a new taurus (renamed from the "500" series, but the rental place was out of 'em. The fusion was a piece of crap. It had 1500 miles on it, and already was beginning to fall apart. The truck lid kept popping open of its own accord, the shock or spring on the passenger rear side felt weak, the driver's side front door wouldn't close properly, and it was an absolute slug getting onto the expressways. I can't say that GM products are any better; the last car I rented was a Pontiac and it, too, was a p.o.s. I owned two Ford trucks, one a ford "splash" truck with a V-6. It was trouble free. I replaced it with an F150, which had a slew of minor deficiencies from the factory, including a front brake that dragged and required many trips to the dealer before the whole assembly was replaced. It would be nice if management and engineering at the U.S. auto companies did more than *talk* about quality. Toyota obvious has had some lapses recently, but I have a feeling management there will straighten things out. What could be more humorous than the right-wing nitwits here whining about who owns GM? Who owns the highways you run your cars on? Who owns the military about which you boys are always bragging? |

Here's just one point: CONSUMER REPORTS’ 2009 ANNUAL CAR RELIABILITY SURVEY: FORD SECURES PLACE AMONG WORLD’S MOST RELIABLE CARMAKERS Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan Reliability Tops Honda Accord and Toyota Camry YONKERS, NY – Ford has secured its position as the only Detroit automaker with world-class reliability. About 90 percent (46 of 51) of Ford, Mercury, and Lincoln products were found to have average or better reliability, according to Consumer Reports’ 2009 Annual Car Reliability Survey. The results were announced today at an Automotive Press Association luncheon in Detroit. Ford’s sustained production of vehicles that are as dependable-or better than-some of the industry’s best dispels the notion that only Japanese manufacturers make reliable cars. Other than the Toyota Prius, the reliability of the 4-cylinder Fusion and Milan ranks higher than that of any other family sedan. Both of those Ford Motor Company products continue to beat the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry, while the upscale Lincoln MKZ tops its rivals, the Acura TL and Lexus ES. Oh well... in the end you pays you money and you takes your chances. A bad experience can sour someone for a long time, and brand loyalty can mask a lot of crap. Mine was a Honda... I had a really crappy one, won't buy another, at least not soon. |

When NBC presented the results of the Consumer Reports annual reliability ratings, with Toyota, Honda, etc, taking the top ratings, they finished by saying that there were several other auto ratings which had differing results. For some reason, they didn't mention the results Ford achieved, nor did they mention that Consumer Reports, unlike the others, does not take advertising dollars from the car companies. -- John H |
