Never saw that. But if you ever has a White Castle you know it won't
come close. Can't get hamburger with horsemeat at the store. Happy New
Year!
And thank you for saying that.

Here in New Jersey, White Castle never went away, and it now seems like
they are expanding. So, maybe you'll get lucky and they will return to
your area. You can always check he

Never went away here. Expanded.
I can handle them a few times a year.
I'm a lucky man.

You can go to the Little Tavern (DC) and get a similar product. I
think the Little Tavern uses more onions.
Still the same silver dollar sized, 30% fat, burger, on a steamed bun.
I used to buy 2 every morning at 17th and Pa. ave. my way to school. I
think they were a dime each then. Mc Donalds at 15 cents did not seem
that out of line.

I remember reading something in the post in the last few years that the
last little tavern had closed, or was closing. I think it was the little
tavern...

I remember one in georgetown, on "M" street, near the bridge to
Rosslyn...but this was many years ago, when I worked in the Georgetown
area, on 31st Street. I'm pretty sure even the little tavern
bulding...on the side of another building...is gone.

That thing just cooks both sides of a small piece of meat. White Castles
are great. Kids used to have me get a bunch to bring home to Calif when I
went to Chicago on business. Any meat steamed on top of a grill full of
onions and then have the bun soak up the meat juice and onion flavor has to
be fantastic.

You hit on the key thing there. There was a Vienna dog place on the
south side that often had a line outside. Bought many dogs there.
The reason they were better than other places was they steamed the
buns. Wrapping good fries in the paper with the dogs didn't hurt
either.

Gene and Judes. Not south side but the same!

Do you remember Ollie's Trolley's? Always hold the burger perpendicular
to your body otherwise you will get a load of grease down your arm. They
have a store front location but it isn't the same as the old places in
the parking lots all around town.

Damn I miss them.
