I would have stayed but the INS had a thing about letting in
non-minorities with zero infractions and easy to verify backgrounds.
Maybe because I wasn't willing to bribe my lawyer?

Thinking about Panama or Costa Rica next. Think of all those US taxes I

Not at all. Had 10 months left on the visa with a 3 year renewal
available. Could see the company I was working for heading towards the
rocks and had investment opportunities elsewhere. So I liquidated and
moved on. Did quite well on the exchange rate too when the USD was
worth more.

Left some in the US, did make a lot of money in the last two years with
congress/democratic fiscal screwups. I bet the economy was going south,
bet the banks were in trouble from welchers and it did. I bet GM would
go under and Ford would benefit for a short term. And it did. Bet my
old company I worked for went south, and it did big time. My current
bet is the USD will depreciate and it is.
