In the mean time I suppose you can do what you have been doing, but if
you have that much time, I would work on a good back up and restore
system...

How good is windoze backup and restore and system state restore (your
settings)?
Usually I have been installing a spare drive and simply cloning the C:
with MaxBlast.

I don't use it for backups or full restores. I have used it in a pinch,
but I wouldn't count on it. I keep three external HDD's and also make
copies of valuable stuff (one for me, one for the wife, she does the
same). I am not sure if she copies hers to one of her hard drives, I do
hers. Three copies is the minimum I would suggest for anyone who needs
to be sure about their data.
