Probably 'stove oil'. We burned it in an old flat downtown where I grew up. We had the tanker truck come in occassion to fill the 45 gal drum in the basement. It became my job to track down two flights of stairs to refill the 5 gallon can that sat upside down on a tray stand to to automatically feed the kitchen stove...which also heated the flat and our water. To get I would drop into a local barber shop and get his 3 imperial gallon glass jug, walk across the street to a small family run convience store and fill it. The barber shop used it for a small heater. "a few cents extra cents"? What the hell does *that* mean, dummy? |
