That is really the ironic thing here. They passed legislation on an
appropriations bill which used to be against congressional rules but
the strange part is they didn't try to address DoD discrimination
against gays in the military on a DoD bill that had a rider to protect
gays.

The other thing that bothers me is the perpetrators of the two
signature crimes in this bill got either the death penalty or multiple
life sentences. What would this bill do to them more than that?
Are we changing out mind on torture?
Two of the guys who were convicted of premeditated murder in Texas
are on the express train to needle town. I think a federal charge
would actually slow that process.



This sort of legislation comes about because there are states where
there are no prosecutions. The legislation assures that if the locals
ignore the crimes, the federales will not. The white racist pigs who
killed the three civil rights workers in mississippi got a walk on local
charges, and were imprisoned only after the feds stepped in.
