and, of course, the company won 8 nobel prizes and invented modern
SQC...all with a unionized workforce
The union members weren't the ones who earned those credits.
Outside contractors too....
The union can't tie their own shoes without a meeting and a bargaining
session.
I've noticed the same thing. The biggest things unions are known for is
making union officials wealthy and allowing lazy folks to earn money off
the sweat of others.
now let's see...how much of our trillion dollar bailout was needed to
save
1. hedgefund managers
2. union members
100% of the former...0 of the latter.

The whole GM rescue was done to save the Unions.

If GM had hit the Bankruptcy all those Union benefits would have been on
the chopping block.

hey genius...NEWSFLASH!!

GM DID file for bankruptcy

every time you post you prove you're dumber than a bag of hammers...

Not according to the Liberals that told me, the difference between
chapter 11 and chapter 7 was restructuring and going bankrupt and told
me GM didn't go bankrupt.....

So why don't you guys get together and decide whether they did or didn't
and then get back to me.

It was libs that told me they weren't going bankrupt, now it's Libs
telling me that they did go bankrupt.

I will tell you what, I will go with..... they filed bankruptcy as I
told Libs the first time and say I'm wrong this time and was right the
last time when I said that GM went bankrupt. (Never listen to a Liberal)

So when they went to bankruptcy why did the Judge NOT re-evaluate the
Union Contracts? Was it because the government paid off the bills and
asked the Judge NOT to toss out the contracts?

Just what was the impetus for restructuring the management and leaving
the Union contracts that the "BAD" management had negotiated?

None of what they did makes any sense.

virtually none of it was unionized, it's obvious unions had zip to do

That was a company choice....and not a good one.
oh. i see how this works. you claim unions destroy business. proof of
that is
1. non unionized plants are closed
2. unionized plants are still in production but you think they
shouldn't be because that disproves your view

and that, to you, proves non unionized plants protect jobs? if that's
the case, where are the jobs?
If you were half as familiar with IBM as you insinuate, you would know
what a loss that was.
and if you knew logic, you'd see how ridiculous your position is

Argue this:

Times Union: A sweet IBM dealhttp://cnse.albany.edu/News/index.cfm?step=show_detail&NewsID=1406

A sweet IBM deal that netted the company $1.6 billion of the taxpayer
dollars, and then:

BM layoffs reaching 3000, union group claimshttp://www.edn.com/article/CA6632229.html

And then there are many, many, many of these that you can argue:

Toyota to Close Union Plant in Californiahttp://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/28/business/28nummi.html

and yet you admit that all the silicon valley plants that closed were
non union

and that proves unions cause plants to close.

Problem is parts. There are very few and those that are are very
expensive. Most of the sheetmetal will have to done by hand from
scratch. If I did it it would probably end up with a Chevy powerplant
anyway as those are a dime a dozen, comparatively.

Hmmmm, I live on a "property" with a house, two double carports and a 32
X 20 shop. One of the reasons, I bought this property was to add to it.
Put the shop in about 5 years ago. Excellent investment.

Sounds good.......You should have a terrific view and a very private

Actually it depends on which states laws you reference. Some states say you
have to have your PE registration to be called an engineer. Others require
less, and some require nothing. I had engineers with degrees and without
degrees working for and with me. Some of each were good, and others sucked
as design engineers with even a Masters from Berkeley in Engineering. But
there is a hell of difference between an FE and a design engineer and lots
of differences between FE's. When I designed Disk Controllers for DEC
systems, there were 2 FE's in the country you did not want a call from. One
a black FE in Florida and the other a biker guy from CA. Both were among
the best FE's I have dealt with. You knew if they called it was not a
hardware problem, it was a design bug and you were going to be on an
airplane shortly. And most FE's from the 70's on were board swappers, not
good trouble shooters. Because you could change 1/4 or more of a computer
with one board change. They did not have to know how the system really
functioned like when we had 2 flip-flops on a board with discrete
transistors. And hundreds of boards in a system. I have an EE degree and
passed the EIT, but never worked in a position where I needed a PE
registration. So never had a PE to sign off on my work as well as taking
the exam. So some states I can not call myself an engineer legally.
Answer your question?
