Bought a 3700 gph Rule pump for the Tolman just in case I take a lot
of water. My normal bilge pump is a 750 gph one. I intend to find
some smooth bore hose for it and some oversized wire to power it.
Downside is, it was expensive and I will probably never use it. Might
even get a dedicated battery for it.

How far can you swim, even given a life jacket and fairly warm water?

When you think about it, that's really only a gallon/second.

Yes, and the reality is more like half of that.

You could run smooth pipe straight to a seacock, no bends. Then you
wouldn't have to lift the water. It is a bad idea, of course, but you
would get more flow.

Absolutely, and its occupant, too.

Yeah, I guess you could just drill a hole in the bottom of the boat
and let the water out that way.

True story, friend of mine once had a 39 ft racing sloop in Stamford,
CT and hired a local teenager to help maintain it. Friend gets a
call at the office one day:

Teen: Mr A, there was a low spot in the shower that was collecting
water so I drilled a hole to let it out.

Friend: What! That's the bottom of the boat!

Teen: Yes, I found that out. Don't worry though, I put a screw in
the hole to keep it from leaking.

We went racing that weekend, screw and all. Everyone kept a close
eye on it however.
