Default Dear Miss Manners:

What do you think about Sen. Barbara Boxer being addressed as "ma'am"
rather than as "Senator" by a U.S. brigadier general during a Senate
hearing? Was this really a breach of protocol?

"Let us not go looking for insults -- or assume stupidity, which it
would be for anyone to insult a senator at a senatorial hearing.

Miss Manners assures you that "ma'am" is, like its masculine
equivalent, "sir," a highly respectful form suitable for addressing
any female, including a president, a monarch and your own mother."

Tom, my thought s are that Boxer prefers "Senator" over "ma'am"
because to her, "Senator" sounds more "butch"

You just heard about this, right? You do know this happened some time
ago...

Generals, by the way, are a dime a dozen. U.S. Senators cost a bit more,
since there are so few of them.

US Senators work for the people of the State that elected them to
office. They, the US Senator, should show some respect and humility for
the job they have been elected to perform.

If Boxer worked for me I would have fired her on the spot.

They should be even more valuable now that Teddy is taking a dirt nap.
Too bad he didn't hand over the reins while he was alive. Now his poor
state has to make do, for a while, with only one flaming asshole in the
senate.

changed his racist ways in a month to take the Job in the Obama Admin..
When we all know he didn't change anything, racist, thug, tax cheat

out of Washington on a rail. Why the **** would Obama keep hiring folks
