Yet it has a national health care program with several rungs on that ladder for coverage, and a plethora of private supplemental programs you can buy if you wish. No one calls Switzerland a "socialistic" country. Sadly, in this country, we are plagued with tens of millions of virtually illiterate simpletons who tend to believe the sort of nonsense righties are dumping on them in order to try to defeat significant health care reform. They're tools, pawns, if you will, in the game to maintain the status quo for the very wealthy. We have a handful of those pawns in this very newsgroup. Switzerland, even though it uses 3 different languages is a very homogenous country, high literacy and little immigration of unskilled masses. Also a very rich country. As despots have always needed a place to store their money. Secrecy in banking and pay little or no interest. Unless you just don't like your money, don't ever order 'Swiss Fondue' in a Swiss restaurant. We made that mistake once. Just have to know some locals to steer you. Raclatte is never cheap. But lots of labor with that dinner. Being I was on expense account and still did not think the fondue was that bad. Other meals were. The other side of the Pyrenees in France is also beautiful. Around Po and Lourdes is fantastic scenery. Actually all the mountains on the Northern Italian border are great. My wife's Great Grandmother was from Ticino provence of Switzerland. Which is about 20 miles from Lake Como. Steep canyon with large clear river running through it. The Moto Guzzi factory is in Mandello del Lario, which is on Lake Como. Perhaps you're familiar with Splugen Pass. My wife became semi-famous for being a female who rode her motorcycle over the pass. It looked like a good shortcut. It scared me ****less. Some great pictures of the road. http://tinyurl.com/mcpzq4 -- John H "If you think healthcare is expensive now, wait until it's free!" --Anonymous Bodio is the village she left. Is in the Canyon the main train from Switzerland travels through. I normally take trains in Europe and rent a car for a day or 2 if needed. |

... Obama is not in charge of spending. That would be Congress. That would be Pelosi (speaker) and Rangel (ways and means chair) so I suppose you can blame them for the deficit spending since Jan 6, 2007. At least that's a bit more accurate. Of course, it's more complicated than that. The whole of Congress had to vote on it, and then Pres. Bush had to sign it for it become law. So, if you want you can blame Congress, but the president has a voice also. The president submits a proposed budget. Congress mushes it through their processes and procedures, and out pops the sausage, which is either eaten or rejected by the president.
