Just about any mount that drops the kicker into the water hangs ir out where it is a long lever arm that can bounce up and down prone to failure after lots of bouncing. Suggestions? My kicker mount, no longer in use, has a stainless steel strap on the side that you can engage to lock the mount in the up position. I've had it a long time but I believe it is this one: http://www.defender.com/product.jsp?path=-1|294|314561&id=835273 Most moveable mounts I have seen say not to transport the motor on the mount. CalifBill: Excellent point so I read thru the Garelick motor mount manual and they specifically say not to transport the motor on the mount. I am not going to put that heavy motor on the mount every time I take her out (or at least do not want to), any ideas? This is my "use it to get back home just in case" kicker that I have used when the primary 90 hp got clogged with weeds. I had an OMC bracket. First bracket broke and motor was hanging on by one bolt that had not broken. Next OMC bracket cracked some brackets and the transom. So I had a fixed bracket built and welded on the boat. Aluminum boat. No problems for the last 7 years, and I now run a heavier Yamaha T-8 motor. |
