Buy A Boat, Get An Assault Rifle Free
Dealer Offers Free AK-47 With Purchase

ANDERSON, S.C. -- An Upstate boat and tractor dealer is offering a
voucher for a free assault rifle with major purchases.

The marquee outside Carolina Tractor and Marine reads “Free AK-47 With
Purchase.” A partner in the dealership, Henry Jordan, said he got the
idea after seeing a story on FOX News Channel about a Missouri car
dealership about a week ago.

Jordan said he is trying to clear out his end-of-year inventory so he
can begin ordering for next year. He said he was just looking for
something that would catch people’s attention.

“We thought, ‘You know what? Every man ought to have a fishing boat, a
pickup truck and a tractor and they certainly need a good gun to protect
themselves and their family,” Jordan said. “We believe in the 2nd
Amendment. We believe, in fact, it’s a man’s responsibility to protect
his family.”

Jordan said that since he started the promotion he has sold a boat and a
riding lawnmower. He said the free-gun deal will run until Labor Day.
Anderson County Sheriff John Skipper said he does not have a problem
with the promotion.

“The AK-47 is a gun that anybody can purchase as long as they qualify,”
Skipper said. “I think any gun in the hands of a responsible person is
worth having.”
****in' brilliant.
If it were up to the NRA, those AK's would be full auto.
Went to the dealership yesterday and that's the only thing holding up
the boat deal....

Heck, Gene, you could probably *build* a full auto AK-47 from scratch in
your shop from sheet metal stock you've got kicking around. I've seen
complete plans and drawings on-line.

To keep it on-topic here, you could call it...the BOAT-AK.

In realty, years (and we're talking decades) ago, some of my students
built guns in my Machine Shop classes. We exhibited those (along with
other projects) at fairs. I had one especially talented student that
built a matched set of derringers. One man, taken by the
craftsmanship, pulled a check out of his pocket, signed it, and told
the kid to fill in any amount he wanted....

Now, in this modern PC world, I guess we'd all just go to jail.....

I dunno. I think if you stay away from violations of the National
Firearms Act, you'd be okay. I have a friend out in Virginia who builds
- from scratch - his own black powder rifles and pistols. He doesn't
sell them, but he has given a few away over the years.

Of course, possession of a full auto firearm would require a bit of
federal paperwork. Probably the manufacture of same, too.

As soon as I sold my .22LR Ruger Mark III Hunter, I bought a sodapop can
and paper target "assault" rifle, a Thompson Center rifle in .22LR. It's
only a semi-auto, but the dealer tossed in a brick of el cheapo ammo.
