You can't filter on the body in Agent....

Yeah, and as I found, Thunderbird either. There are only a couple
answering him now, I am sure the numbers will dwindle as time goes
on. He can talk to himself and the rest of the pink army, they can
insult each other all day long...

The narcissistic fat **** is trying SO hard to get noticed, he's
changed his handle a few times just this morning! I looked with
google, and sure as hell, he's **** all over the newsgroup with
political crap.

OK, although I don't see the point I went to look... The top post was
from H-K (which does not show up in my T'bird) so I went to check the
e-mail address. I found that the "H-K" account has been banned from
Google? The little slob must be going frekin' nuts!

http://groups.google.com/groups/prof...iYTQavV7mdW13Q

Banned from Google!? LOL...

The "H-K" account?

Hehehe.

Dumb****.

When I look at my message list in Agent, I see Subject, then Author.
Anything I don't want to read, I just delete it with the mouse.
You can also select a string of them with the mouse then tap the

Never have to open something where I don't know the author, unless
the author is spoofed.
But whatever works.

Yeah, I display my messages differently I guess. It's just easier for me
to never see them at all, no need to click anything. But anyway, back to
boats, bombs, beer, guns, gear, guitars, and uh, boats..;)

I think it is great to let justhate stew in his own juices.

Last year, when justhate was whining about having to do without close
and competent medical care and expensive prescriptions he could not get
from the state welfare system, he was offered professional assistance
with both challenges, assistance that would have resolved those problems
for him.

But, as he says, "If it is important, I will get it from someone else..."

Not bloody likely.

A filter is useful for (at least) the following reasons:

1) You can filter out folks that NEVER post on topic,

2) You can filter out threads and sub-threads that you KNOW aren't
going anywhere you want to: Bill Sucks, Politics Something, Insult
Whatever

3) Those prefaced with OT- are not of interest.....

You mean, no beer, no guitars, no race reports?? Come on, the
occassional kitchen remodel and lawnmower report has to be of some
interest? ;)

Rowdy Mouse Racing, Carver was carnage this weekend...

Serious about this? Especially with that old version of Agent, this is
your only recourse. I *will* work... if you want to spend the time to
configure it....

Thanks Gene. I should have said 'filter the responses with Agent 1.91.
I'm not going to try a different news reader.

Hopefully more and more folks will wise up and stop responding to
them.

Never quite understood why anybody would filter.
I tried it once in the ASA group when it was over run by flonkers, and
with Agent it slows down update of the headers in the group.
And no matter what reader, or if it happens server-side,
the parsing will slow things down.

You must have a slow server. Applying the filters makes no noticeable
difference in the updating of headers with my server and news reader.

My headers are sorted subject/time, and it's very easy to delete
entire subjects or posters with the mouse.
Never more than a few clicks, and just maybe I want to read something
because of a poster/subject combination.

I like my headers to show up sorted by thread. Deleting a poster, even
when sorting by author, doesn't delete the responses to the author's
bull****.

I never felt I had to read anything I don't want to read.

That's good.

Why let a filter censor what I can read?

Because you set it to do so. You can always undo a filter if you
simply *must* read the author's tripe.

Do I have free will?

Do you? That question should be easily answerable.
Or not?
Just seems childish to me.

That's why God made opinions.

But maybe others find it useful because of their readers/tools.

--Vic

I found getting rid of 400 headers with one 'Apply Filters' click to
be very worthwhile. I didn't have to decide whether or not to read
each one. I don't like the idea of wearing out my 'free will'.

Oh, I don't go back and analyze my filtered posts file, if one exists,
either.
