By one of our very own:

" Have you ever sailed from San Francisco to Hawaii? I have.
Have you ever rounded Cape Horn? I have, twice.
Have you ever transited the Panama Canal? I have.
Have you owned more than 20 boats in your lifetime? I have.
Have you ever sailed large boats competitively? I have.
Have you ever been hundreds of miles from land in a powerboat
under your command? I have."

My "point being" is that the author of those claims is a lying piece
of ****.

No - but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express.

Have you ever rounded Cape Horn? I have, twice.

Depends on how you define "rounded". I've been there, shore side and
walked from one side to the other - that could technically be
"rounding" the Horn.

Have you ever transited the Panama Canal? I have.

Nope - but I did stay at a Ramada Inn once.

Have you owned more than 20 boats in your lifetime? I have.

Nope - last count, sixteen. If you count canoes, I'm still only at 17.

Have you ever sailed large boats competitively? I have.

Actually, I did - when I was in high school in fact - Marblehead to
Bermuda race and I crewed one summer on the Queen Nefertiti which was
an America's Cup trials boat build by Ted Hood. Went to high school
with the Hood kids too.

"I" is something of a misnomer though - I've crewed and I also took a
turn at being helmsman for a shift, but the term "I" is indefinite
enough in the sense that it does fit.

Have you ever been hundreds of miles from land in a powerboat
under your command? I have."

Yep back in the day that is. Haven't done it in a few years.

Anything else you'd like to know?

Please explain why certain models of Husqvarna lawn/garden tractors
exist even though you claim they never were manufactured.

When you finish explaining that, please explain why you put an outboard
with a 25" lower unit on a boat with a 20" transom.

When you finish explaining that, please explain how that outboard can be
*so* efficient, it burns about half the fuel competing outboards would
on the same boat and under the same operating conditions.

Oh, and is your bipolar disorder under control now?

BTW You forgot to wish me happy birthday yesterday.

He'll have his chance - I'm going to stop by his place tomorrow
evening just to say hi - maybe get a tour of his ranch or whatever it
is.

BTW You forgot to wish me happy birthday yesterday.

I'm sorry -

Happy Birthday Squid Jim.

Cheers

I once shook hands with a pudgy guy who:

Sailed from San Francisco to Hawaii.
Rounded Cape Horn, twice.
Transited the Panama Canal.
Has owned more than 20 boats in his lifetime.
Sailed large boats competitively.
Has been hundreds of miles from land in a powerboat
under his command.

And who set a new record for the most distance covered and fish caught in the Chesapeake Bay in the shortest time!
