Default Senate directs USCG to continue Loran support

When will they let this system die a natural death?

Never hopefully.

The the GPS satellites fall out of the sky or stop working for what
ever reason, we'll still have LORAN.

Or eLORAN. :)

And what the heck - stimulous, sometimes known as porkulous, money is
available - spend some of it on something useful.

Let's face it, GPS is really neat, but very subject to
interference..... intentional or otherwise. Loran is pretty
bulletproof and ground based.... all good things from a reliability
standpoint.

but no military uses LORAN. and it's certainly subject to sabotage,
etc. bringing down a LORAN tower takes a few pounds of C4....
