Well, I was "exposed" to that sort of organ playing (but not that level)
at a very young age. My dad was an advanced amateur organist, and we
always had a Hammond, Wurlitzer or Gulbransen in the living room. The

"stashed" in a corner of the adjacent dining room, much to the annoyance
of my mother. He did his own repairs, too, with boxes of tubes, harmonic
drawbars, et cetera, in the basement.
HA HA HA HA... What a bunch of ****!! Harry googles three organs and
suddenly he had them in the living room. .. snerk I was exposed
as my mom sang all over the east coast professionally. Even now I have
a Lowrey Director in my living room, a real one Harry, not one of your
dad's... Pfffftt... This is great, Harry is going off the deep end
again...

*I* didn't have them, **** for brains. My father did. Unlike everyone in
your family, my dad was quite accomplished in a number of areas,
including music and painting.

What has anyone in your lineage every accomplished?

Uh, they invented the airplane!? I am related to Orvill and Wilbur
Wright..... How about you?

Has anyone besides me noticed that most literary references Harry
makes are books we all read in the eigth grade? I still don't think he
got out of High School with his skin... snerk

I'm sure he got pretty well banged up in high school. Somehow I don't
think white smart asses were well received at his school.

She was good, no doubt. Too bad it isn't a B3.
Here's a B3. In fact, in some of the sections of the video, Monaco
is playing the exact B3 I have in the music shop. I have pictures
and a CD of him playing it that came with the organ when I bought it.
He has an interesting background. As a young kid, around the age of
11, he was learning to play an accordion but contracted some form of
a neurological disease. He totally lost control of the muscles that
control finger movements. He had to relearn, by shear will power,
the ability to control movement of his hands and fingers. Even
today if you watch closely the way he forms chords on the organ
keyboard and attacks the keys is a bit different from what you would
normally expect.

Great organist, to be sure, but even though he is playing a tribute to
Jimmy Smith, Jimmy Smith he ain't.
You know what? You don't know what you are talking about. There is
no way you even bothered to watch or listen to the Tribute that I
linked. It's over 13 minutes long and the tribute doesn't start until
about half way through. You responded to the link within 4 minutes of
me posting it. There's no way you could have even heard it.
I call BS.

I am having my annual Tent Party, and I am wondering if I should bring
out my B3 organ and play to entertain the crowd. If i do, I think I
might actually rent some tents.

Man, having yard tents for your Annual Tent Party would be off the
hook!
It is a radical concept, but what the heck. I am wondering if anyone
has a recommendation for a good source of fabric that would breath as
well as cotton, yet strong enough to be able to cover 3 footballs
fields. I want to cover half of my backyard, and leave the other half
open so people can play golf on my par 3 course.
Did I hear 'golf'?
Should I bring my cart?

Yes, please do. We can use the golf cart to hold the .Dom Perignon.1998
that I purchased for our little shindig. I thought it was be a pleasant
change from the normal Beer Cart.

You are going to keep the scantaly clothed, twenty something, nymphets
to serve the wine aren't you?

While it is not official (and I couldn't say if it was) Obama might be
stopping by for dinner.

Smith is an excellent organist, Herr Krause. But what does she have to

With Harry, it's easy. He only has two working parts, the mouth and
the asshole, and they're interchangeable !

The GOP had it's last perfect candidate with W. Not past that couldn't
be denied because it wasn't on tape.

When I was a kid, fifty years ago, we had a Gulbransen piano, once a
player but all traces of that were gone.

Yeah, when I was a kid my uncle up in Lynn had an old player piano and
dozens of reels. We would (me and the cousins) would sit around and
play with that thing all day long. You had to pump two pedals on the
base if I remember correctly... It was cool, you will never see
anything like that again outside of a museum now I would guess..

Maybe that's when Harry learned his terrific backpeddling routine. On
his famous daddy's Gulbransen player peaner.

-----------------------

Player pianos are still made, although they have electric motors for pumps
and the rolls are somewhat hard to come by.

There's another option however. We have a Samick Grand Piano in which we
had a QRS "Pianomation" system installed. It is mounted behind the keys
within the piano and has solenoids that operate the piano hammers. The
solenoids follow instructions from a CD disk player in terms of what note to
strike with all the parameters associated with playing it manually,
(velocity, sustain, etc.) The instructions on the CD are in a proprietary
QRS format, however I discovered a free software program that converts
digital midi to the QRS format and can now download non-copyright protected
classical piano performances from the 'net and play them on the piano. And
yes, just like the old player pianos, the keys on the piano are actuated by
the QRS system. Little kids eye's bug out the first time they see it.
