Kind of reminds me of what happened back in the mid-70's - I want to

Had to turn up the heat in my office this morning.

I'm painting the house now. *the front is all scraped, washed twice,

This really isn't a comment. Just testing a new, DSL Internet service from
the music shop.

Not only does it work, but I am really surprised and impressed. It's only
been up and running for an hour or so, but it is amazingly fast for DSL. I
thought DSL was slower than cable, but it's not the case here. This DSL is
much faster than the Comcast cable we have in the house.

It could be that although the DSL is on a wireless router, I only have one
computer on it versus 2 or 3 on the wireless Comcast router in the house.
But the difference is very, very noticeable. Hope it stays this way.

Yup, a dirty little secret. Our DSL was ungated by a guy who worked at
the router and it smoked the Cox cable locally in Essex, or here at
Comcast. Even before it was opened up really but certainly after...
It's just bull and selective sampling that gives the cable companines
the right to say they are faster...

When you speed test the new DSL, what results in kbps do you get?

Try a couple of servers at http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/

at different times during the day at your house and office.

Typically, we get about 25,000 kbps down and 11,000 up. Sometimes
substantially faster down, sometimes a little bit slower down. That's
with the NY server. The DC server gives much faster results.

Best not to try this at high traffic hours...do it either very early in
the am or very late at night.

Well, I'm sure they set you up with the super duper DSL because you
are so special.

Are your results DSL or cable? If DSL, which provider? Just curious?
