Isn't GM a supplier of engines for inboard motors?

I have a 1979 Mercruiser 170 hp four. The pistons from a GM big block
might fit: at least the cylinders are the same volumn. The big block
of the fours. It has low hours and I probably won't live long enough
to wear it out.
