Columbia, Missouri was "the" place to go for a road trip in those
days...lotsa gals at Mizzou, plus Christian College and Stephens
College, in those days, women students only. My KC girlfriend in those
days went to Mizzou for her degree, so I spend considerable time Friday
nights getting there, and then coming back so I could at work by 4:30
Sunday afternoon.

You're probably right.

I had a wonderful time the years I worked at The Star. Both the
afternoon and night city/assignment editors were "old school"
journalists, the newsroom had *no* financial budget, and those reporters
who wanted to get "out there" for feature stories in Kansas, Missouri,
Oklahoma, Iowa, and Nebraska could propose just about anything and get
it approved.
