Naw. Back in Harry's day (and mine) one elected "liberal
arts" as
a course of study when you were entering college but didn't
have a
clue what you wanted to do with your life.
It's meaning has changed over the years.
Eisboch
Well, actually, it was a course of study for those of use who
went to
college to further our formal educations, rather than study for
a trade.
JustHate, being an uneducated smurf, probably thinks "liberal
arts"
means liberals who major in art.
If Harry's objective was to further his education, I wonder why
Harry
chose Univ. of Kansas when he could have chosen Univ. of Conn or
the
Univ. of Mass. both excellent public schools, far superior to
Kansas in
the 60's and 70's.

Actually he played Rugby at Kansas 20 yrs before they had a Rugby
Team.

Speaking of fairy tales.. I just heard a funny commercial for the New

the Times, everybody knows that"! They make up more stories than the
National Enquirer snerk Everybody knows that!!!

"In September 1964 the Kansas City Rugby Club played its first game
against the newly formed University of Kansas RFC."

As usual, Reggie can't tell the truth from his ass or a hole in the
ground.

No, Univ. of Kansas didn't have a Rugby Team in 1964, in 1964 there was
a group of students who belonged to a "club" to play rugby. NCAA
teams do not play against non NCAA teams. Anyone can start a "club" in
fact the Univ of Kansas has basketball clubs, baseball clubs soccer
clubs etc., but if you play on the Basketball club, it doesn't mean you
play basketball for the Univ. of Kansas.

Sorry Harry, but you did not play Rugby for the Univ. of Kansas.

By the way, here is the complete list of all University of Kansas teams:
http://www2.kusports.com/news/all-sports/

I guess since I belong to the football and basketball clubs at Columbia,
I could say I played football and basketball for Columbia University.

NCAA Rowing?

Where the hell do they row in the middle of Kansas?

Heh - I was chatting with my rheumatologist after my recent
appointment and she mentioned that her husband played baseball for
Brandeis University and had been drafted by the Chicago Cubs.

I kind of laughed and said "Brandeis has a baseball team"?

Turns out they do and it's not a bad baseball team. They play in the
ECAC league and have a few UAA All-Stars every year.

Who knew? :)

First, Lawrence, Kansas is not in the middle of Kansas. It is in
northeastern Kansas.

Second, the Kaw River in the Lawrence area accommodates all manner of
small boats and at higher water levels, is interestingly navigable. It's
also well-known for orgiastic sandbar parties.

Third, there's a lake a little west of Lawrence that quite suitable for
crew. Probably larger than the lakes on which you run your overpowered
bass boats.

Alas, my time in Kansas itself was pretty much boatless *except* for a
few times the father of a girl I was dating took us out on a lake near
their home in Topeka. I'm not sure there *were* Bayliners in those days.

Now, when I moved to KCMO to work at The Star, one of the city editors
had a place at the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri, and he had a
beautiful wood Century powerboat. He held lots of parties in the summer,
just about every other weekend, and I went to a few.

Well how about that - I guess you told me huh?

Consider me chastised - you obviously have the area around Leavenworth
down cold.

Which, somehow, figures.

Uh...Lawrence is west of Kansas city, but not far. Leavenworth is north
of KC. I visited the pen at Leavenworth to cover a college graduation
ceremony

If you want central Kansas, you might find Great Bend, KS, of interest.
In the good old days, the KC Star owed the Great Bend Tribune, and the
threat from the city editor was that if you ****ed up a big story, he'd
send you out to the Tribune to do penance.

Thanks to the Star's desire to cover its geo area as completely as
possible, we reporters got to travel far and wide in Kansas, Missouri,
Oklahoma and Nebraska. One of my favorite far-away places in Kansas was
Liberal, down in the SW corner. You'd like it...pretty good airplane museum.

You apparently haven't spent much time out there - Kansas, Missouri,
Nebraska, Oklahoma. Many interesting places and people.

I thought that was what you referred to as the "fly over" zone. I guess
if you visited the place, it suddenly becomes more interesting.

That Waylon has to be the biggest blowhard in this group.
You can't believe a word he says as his whole MO is to instigate, irritate
and facilitate the bickering of his Dope Army irregulars.
I see he has a new job as JohnnyH's 'Chief Panhandler'.

Your Simpsons references define you and the poor rearing of your
