This one caught my eye and I was going to buy the package, but they only had the version with less RAM (and minus a few other features) in stock. Thinking of ordering it direct from HP on-line. I liked it's small size .... sorta a hybrid between a conventional tower computer and a laptop. I can't imagine needing a 500GB hard drive. The HP Laptop I use now has an 80 GB hard drive and, after several years of use and adding many applications, music, videos, etc. it still has about 70 GB of unused capacity. http://tinyurl.com/7dyre2 I've had very good luck with the HP Pavilion Laptop that I use now, as has my wife with her similar version. Mine's quite a few years old now and I expect it to blow up someday soon so I am already thinking of it's replacement. Going to Vista doesn't get me all excited, but I really haven't tried it much and am only going by the industry reaction to it. Switching to a Mac just isn't in the cards. I don't have the level of interest in computers to get into running software emulators and/or stocking up on new applications to do stuff. Eisboch |

I don't have the level of interest in computers to get into running software emulators and/or stocking up on new applications to do stuff. That looks like a pretty good deal. Nowadays you don't need to worry about the ability to add stuff internally to a system. The important items are USB ports and Firewire (1394). For backups you can buy and external USB disk or go with an on-line backup service (I've started to use one to backup digital photographs and some encrypted documents). The only consideration is if you are a serious gamer or musicer. Then you are going to want a high dollar video card or a high dollar MIDI/Sound card. But, if you are looking for a general purpose computer the price is reasonable. |

I use it mostly for midi sequencing and manipulation ... basically as a musical word processor (using CakeWalk) to correct all my screwups after I record something using one of the keyboards. Other than checking the finished file, I use the sound engines in the keyboards for "live" performances. I mess around with audio recordings using programs like "Audacity" and a couple of others, but most anything important enough to save is burned to a CD. Same with pictures taken with the camera. That's why the computer I have now still has most of it's hard drive unused. Lately I've been making slide show presentations and converting them to DVD's. It's fun, but probably just a bored, winter time, cold, snowy, crappy season type activity. *(&%^$^'in SNOW! Eisboch |

When I worked IT at McDonalds marketing they were using Macs, but they got pushed off them. It was a pain converting data back and forth. It is the sign of a man who is afraid to state publicly how he feels about you. He needs to use childish Internet Messaging vocabulary. The etymology of ESAD as an expression has nothing to do with Internet Messaging, and in fact predates it by many decades. You cannot accuse me of being afraid to state publicly how I feel about any number of posters here. Not only that, but unlike some, I have no fear about using my real name. Is your name Boater, Real Boater, hk, HK or what? You can have 4 or 5 different names in a single day. |

The only attribute of yours I know exists for certain is your cowardice, and that is boundless. If you were a Jew, it would only be an accident of birth, and you would only be a cultural Jew because you were posting here last night and you posting here today. Someone genuinely Jewish would be observing the Sabbath, Also, and perhaps this is reverse anti-Semitism, but all of the Jews I know, and I know a lot of Jews, are very intelligent and accomplished. You don't fit into either category. B. I wouldn't care if you kept or didn't keep a Kosher house. C. You have no idea of what an "Observant Jew" is, and your soft-pedaling of the concept would just make you look like a bigger fool than you are *to* any Observant Jew. D. No, I am *not" discussing my personal religious beliefs here. I do happen to know Observant Jews, they are friends of mind, and you obviously don't know Observant Jews from a hole in the ground. |
