Default Can Minn Cota motor work without electronic?

My Minn Cota outboard electric motor's electronic box "kaput". Do anybody knows, is it possible connect 12 V directly to the motor for it will work on full speed, or electronic circuit is more complex than simply regulate the voltage and motor will not work without this box?
Thanks in advance for the electric wizard!

Yuli, Vienna
