Matt, I don't think the GPS will cause problems with the Compass, but
the VHF can. If you'r not sure, an easy way to check it out is to run
temporary wires to both units (keep the wires away from the compass),
and power them up. Don't forget to try transmitting on the VHF to see
what happens. You shouldn't connect the units directly to the
batteries, they'd have power applied to them all the time. The best
bet is to go to the panel, this way the battery switch will kill power
to the units when you turn it off, and power will come from the
battery you select with the switch.
