Default Mooring whip workout

I'd recommend one or two anchors permanently set on the
channel side of the boat to pull it further off the dock.

That would probably be effective, but the Corpse of Engineers has issues
with anyone getting any farther out into the channel than absolutely
necessary here. And not totally without reason: Docks have been hit by barge
tows in this area. The whips do a good job of protecting the boat, and most
of the time the large power cruiser drivers around here have the sense not
to park their throttles in the "dead plow" position.
