supervision. I know exactly what caps hide what, and the plates are
marked indelibly for any who can read English.

Stainless caps last pretty much forever. Plastic, in a word, doesn't. (I
had to cut out an old one far younger than our fuel and water plates.)


My neighbor, the fuel polisher, had to remove water from the same
fuel tank twice in three weeks. Same owner mistakenly put water in twice.

Having two adjacent caps off at the same time is an invitation to
disaster, a big no no on my boat.

Removing the wrong cap is where the mischief occurs. Don't ask me how
I know that but there is a reason why everything is now color coded.

Regularly can have all three open at the same time. Waste is port at
the shrouds, fuel port stern, water starboard stern. No mixing them up
even if the last two weren't secured.
