Penetrating Epoxies in Deck Core Rot - Deck recoring
http://www.calyachts.org/MaintanceSh...PeneEpoxy.html
There have been some comments/questions re using epoxy injection and/or so-called "rot fixing epoxies" with regards to repairing wet coring in sandwich laminates, e.g. deck and coachroof. Let me point out some things and you draw your own conclusions: NOTEeck Core Pix LINK is not functional as it links to ftp://ftp.sailnet.com/Cal/BC/e32/ I think that all rotten deck core material looks the same though,..... But the written material is at the 1st URL ( at the top) Rather basic stuff but issues that one may be willing to over look considering the work and cost of recoring a deck. Here are some links to Sailboat deck recoring http://www.tritonclass.org/mir/deckcore.html http://www.tritonclass.org/mir/RECORE1.htm http://www.tritonclass.org/mir/RECORE2.htm http://www.tritonclass.org/mir/nidacore.html DECK RECORE WITH NIDA CORE http://www.fibreglast.com/showproduc...0Cores-18.html Sandwich Cores http://pearsonariel.org/discussion/s...ae018& t=1122 New Deck No Recore a different take on Delamination http://www.tritonclass.org/mir/recorelesson.html CORE REPAIR (Lessons Learned) http://www.tritonclass.org/mir/corerotrepair.html SEMI-PERMANENT CORE ROT REPAIR XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXx http://pearsonariel.org/discussion/s...3&page=2&pp=15 EXECELENT THREAD WITH IMAGES (11 PAGE THREAD) http://www.boatus.com/goodoldboat/delalimation.htm Delamination is not spelled d-o-o-m http://mywebpages.comcast.net/dellin...%20Repairs.htm Core Repairs WITH IMAGES AND DONE FROM BELOW, NOT FROM THE TOPSIDES http://www.triton381.com/projects/re...on/recore.html DECK RECORE - PRETTY MUCH THE DEFACTO GUIDE http://boatdesign.net/articles/foam-core/index.htm Foam Core Materials in the Marine Industry by Trevor Gundberg, Composite Materials Engineer with DIAB Inc. For over 60 years foam cores have been utilized in marine applications to lighten, stiffen, and strengthen everything form hull bottoms to fly bridges. But what exactly is foam core? What type do I use, and where can I use it? Should I use it instead of balsa or plywood? With the seemingly endless variety of foam core materials on the market today, it can be frustrating for the average boating enthusiast to find the right foam core for his/her particular application. This article will attempt to inform boat builders about the properties and correct manufacturing procedures involved in constructing foam core sandwich laminates. http://boatdesign.net/articles/foam-core-properties/ GOOD GRAPH COMPARING CORE MATERIALS Ok, I did group a bunch of links together and should be enough info to become somewhat familar with deck recoring....
