Default sospenders co2 cartridge as carry on

If the goal of terrorism is to paralyze their victims with fear then we have
been beaten by our own stupid paranoia. Anyone who is not only too cowardly
to defend their own person, but also too paranoid to allow pilots to carry
guns deserve to die as slaves - period. The people who survived the
building of America would be ashamed of what we have become!

The airline at least has the option of inspecting their own CO2

cartridges
and assuring that they do not represent a hazard. That cylinder that

you
might bring aboard will have been exposed to salt water, banged around

and
could be who knows how old.

I have also traveled on American Airlines to the USVI with SOSpender PFDs. I
removed the CO2 cartridge from the PFD and packed it along with a spare CO2
cartridge in a crush-proof box that I got at West Marine and got no hassle
from American Airlines. The TSA did an extra scan of my luggage at SFO so I
pointed it out to them -- I was prepared to leave my PFDs in my truck at the
airport if they were going to reject them. The TSA said it is up to the
airline, and the airline said it is ok. They made to the USVI with no
problem -- I did find one of those "we opened your bag" notices in my
luggage, but the cartridges were intact. On the return trip, again, no
hassle from St. Thomas and they got home just fine.

Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone has had any problems carrying
a Sospender PFD which has a co2 cartridge as Carry ON or
Checked Baggage on the plane???

I've traveled with mine on American, which has a section on its Web
site saying that it allows them, Northwest and Canadair.
