Default Uk circumnavigation

It is an almost new volvo MD engine - it is the same engine as fitted
to the boat originally. the engine is excellent. Everything else is a
bit old. Hence the problem wiht the gear change. The wiring is a
nightmare. The running rigging is shot to heck. Never a day goes past
without something breaking.

Not sure how much tech stuff to leave in the narrative. Don't want to
bore the UK,

As for the change in the coast. That is the reason I am doing the
trip. Our coast has changed dramatically since the boat was built in
the mid sixties. The working man has retreated from the coast. The
political map of the UK tells and interesting story. I think that the
coast of the uk is about to change again. As the windfarms and tidal
barrages come in there will once again be working men along the coast
who are interested in the weather forecast and know what time high
tide is. I want to see my country before it changes forever.

I am having a wonderful time - although I now have an eight week block
of work coming up to complete.

Thanks for taking an interest in the journey.

Please feel free to pass on any feedback. I will make a short video
about the boat - although I think that any sailor who looks at the
short mast and the triple keel will realise that it is no racer. But
she is growing on me. Althoughb the name, "moments" needs changing.

Any suggestions gratefullyn recieved

Dylan

Thank you, Dylan. I can't stand a boat that looks like it's for
sale...all prim and proper as if noone ever slept drunk on the settee or
walked through to the head in their foulies wet from spray. Too neat
makes me feel unwanted.

Too bad you're not near Charleston. Wiring is one of my specialties as
I'm an electronic technician with marine experience. It's how I wheedle
sailing out of my friends, working on their boats. We'd soon have a new
wiring harness ready. I can't stand electrical fires...(c; Your boat
should be quite simple to rewire.

My friend Geoffrey is from London. He used to play pro Rugby when he was
young. He has an old Amel Sharki 41 ketch I filled with electronic
gadgetry he loves. I even found in this very newsgroup her "new" Perkins
4-108 from a chap in North Carolina, complete down to the control panel.
The Perkins' 50 hp pushes her about 6-7 knots, but we always sail, even
if the air is very light....unless there are people aboard who are antsy
to get somewhere. They have no business on a sailboat. Being becalmed
just means we get to stay at sea another week and party until the wind
comes up. We don't sail without Newcastle, Bass and Boddington's aboard
for such emergencies.

Well, I can see you're busy pulling cables and making up new connectors
from the cable reels on the dock. Fresh breezes all around...it's 84F in
Charleston. The water temp is coming up nicely for the beaches. Bring
her across. We got plenty of hook spaces and expensive marinas that take
Pound Sterling...(c; There's 3,200 miles of navigable waterways within
50 miles of my keyboard. You can set the hook and never see another soul
for days all round here.
