Default Odyssey batteries

Does anyone have any experience with Odyssey AGM batteries? It's time
to replace my Lifeline 8D AGMs (which have been great) and I'm
considering putting in pairs of PC2250s
(http://www.odysseybatteries.com/battery/pc2250.htm)
in their place. The claims of very high absorption rates are
attractive since we've got a big solar array and ~200 amps of
alternator output. But I don't know of anyone who is actually using
them and I kinda hate to be the first in these things... Thoughts?

They're working on year nine. They still work quite well, but have
lost a bit a capacity and I'm getting ready to head out on another
cruise so it is time to replace them. If I were sticking close to the
developed world I'd keep them...

The other vendor has made pretty solid sounding claims to having a
better product. I've certainly been happy with the Lifeline
batteries, but only within the context of lead-acid batteries. They
are not ideal electrical storage devices. The Odyssey batteries are
attractive because they should work with my existing systems but
provide for faster and more complete charging. They are a development
of the AGM technology that I've had good luck with and they also claim
to have up to a 12 year service life.

...I would stick with something that I know about, as
opposed to trusting the opinion from someone in this news group.

Thanks for that opinion; I wouldn't tune in here if I didn't
appreciate the opinions.

What's the difference in cost between the 2 amortized over 9 years? ...

They both register high on the "are you sure that isn't gold-acid
technology" scale. I justified the Lifelines in the first place
because they had very fast charge rates and were expected to have a
long service life. The Odyssey batteries claim to be better on both
counts.

Just for the record, my post was not an advertisement for either
product. I don't have any relationship with either company except
that I purchased some Lifeline batteries from a dealer.

I don't spam. I've been around rbc for long enough so you should be
able to check that if you care to.

Don't pay too much to Willie-Boy. He sits down there in the trailer
park in his easyboy recliner reading books and magazines and believes
that he has become a pundit in all things nautical.

?? I have one Walmart POS that lasted 6 years. 5 years and no
noticeable degradation on a better lead-acid one. Regularly get more
than that on car batteries, but half the time over the the last 20
years, the car rusted out or took out a deer with a good battery;
guessing about 100k on the ones that died, 8-10 years (I always put in
the largest that will fit, so they're lightly loaded).

My Odyssey battery is starting on 8 years old. Still going strong.
After I got it, the dealer mentioned bikers loved them for their Harleys.
