Castro has resigned,,, ok,, how will this effect us.. the sailboat crowd ??
It is obvious that change is coming to Cuba. The old Communists are
retiring. Soon,, who knows. I've flown over Cuba a couple of times. It is a very beautiful island. And all that warm, blue sea. And those harbors! With no marina's! I would love to sail to Havana. And I'm sure I'm not alone. From what I've read, there have been boaters going to Cuba for years, although it is illegal. Soon it will be legal! Viva la Cuba .. !!! What a trip... down the coast, stop at some keys,, a little Key West and then Set the sails... we are heading to Havana! |

I had the opportunity to sail there last year for a scientific conference but after I talked to someone who had, I realized that almost all the money I spent would go into Castros pocket and be used to further oppress his people. If your conscience allows you to support a police state with your money,ok, but mine wont allow it. |

The only problem is... every time you shop at Wally-Mart and buy Chinese made goods you're doing exactly the same thing. I'm thinking people should rush down there for a holiday before the place gets overrun and ruined by hordes of Americans. |

It is however illegal to spend dollars in Cuba under regulations of the Office of Foreign Assets Control of the US Treasury.
