The above individual seems to haunt Usenet groups pushing a DVD Beyond
Treason; this might even be commercial use of Usenet because the DVD
is sold through Amazon and other stores .. it is also full of trash
talk about the United States. The people on it who speak about
Depleted Uranium, which is not even a bomb, let alone a dirty bomb and
uranium is the last substance that you would use for a dirty bomb
since it extremely weakly radioactive .. what the trash talkers fail
to tell you is that a half-life of 4.5 billion years means that it is
so weakly radioactive that half of the isotope decays to lead in 4.5
billion years, the age of the Earth. Polonium, on the other hand, the
210 isotope is believed to have killed the former Russian Agent in
London, has a half-life of 21 days. That type of radioactive
substance is deadly. The anti-DU crusade began when Saddam wanted out
from under the UN Sanctions that ended the Gulf War and he wanted to
make the US/UK look like the real ogres -- the "peace movement" that
visited Iraq before the fall of Baghdad bought into this; they were
shown horrific pictures of supposed defective child birth
monstrosities which still circulate around the net. They have no
connection to DU other than that you are told that they do. For some
real facts about DU, go to DUStory at Yahoo Groups.com or write me ..
I will send you links to factual articles .from all over go see what
real scientists have to say instead of activists who just pretend to
be scientists or scientists who decided activism trumped science.

The bit I liked best was "This might be a commercial use of Usenet..."
straight out of the Arpa ethos of long ago - before the Internet was
handed over to commercial interests,m in fact.

Default Where is Skip and the Flying Pig? Or, Where, indeded??

I know it's being picky, but could someone rename this thread
something like survivalist training or other-poster bashing (yes, I
realize that I can fit into that hole, too, but it's not what the
title sez)?

For the record, and for the title, we're in the Sassafras River just
above the bascule bridge, and are heading south today after doing a
very thorough scrub in fresh water and a bunch of minor maintenance.
I was going to go up the mast yesterday but, wouldn't you know, up
came the wind, and I'd wanted to strip the sails first. Plenty of
time in the next couple of weeks....

Off to the boat show and local touring. We'd stop in Balto on the way
but have had enough folks tell us that time is of the essence if we
want to anchor that we will do that by land or post-show. All is well
(see Lydia's log for excitements with the cat) with all aboard;
Lydia's mom is spoiling us and I'm gaining back the weight I lost!

I'll have a log posting soon; right now I need to get the dink up and
get moving on what should be an ideal sailing day.

Good! You were awful skinny, despite my attempts to fatten you up on
buffet foods.

Skinny people **** me off....

I was trying to do situps at a health club I belonged to many years ago.
AT my awful weight, at the time before I moved to Iran and lost 120
pounds, I could do about 3. Some smartassed, SKINNY kid mocked me.....

"Whoa, sport. How many can you do?" He could do them for hours, of
course, only lifting 40# of body and head each time. "Now, let's go over
to the scale.", I offered. I lay on the floor and he weighed my trunk
and head. Then I weighed his same parts, the part you had to lift to do
a situp.

From the scale, we went to the weight rack and picked up two 50# and one
10# weight. Back at the situp bench, I had him lay on his back to do a
situp, then took a strap and tied 110# of dead weight on top of his
chest, to equal what I was sitting up with.

Of course, Little Skinny couldn't even lift his back off the bench it was
being jammed into...turning HIM into ME.

Damned Skinny smartasses.......(d^

We'll hit the Chinese buffet where they now have 12 flavors of ALL-YOU-CAN-
EAT ice cream when you get to Charleston. I can fix that "skinny" stuff...
(c;

They got more All-you-can-eat Cheesecake to go with it....

Hi, Wilbur,

I note that this newsgroup is called rec.boats.cruising. I also note
that none of the thousands of posts you make say anything about your
cruising, let alone what places you've been or what cruising attempts
or work you've accomplished in, say, the last 5 years.

I, on the other hand, have regularly posted the work I've done to go,
and once gone, where I've gone and how I did it.

Your turn...
