Subject: Bilge Pump Switch
From: (Larry W4CSC) Hmm....There's a big Rule switch in Lionheart's deep bilge way down out of reach. It's gonna be a pain in the ass to change when it happens. Can you remount it on a L shapes piece of plastic or aluminum there the pump is attached to the short part of the L and the long part of the L can be used as a handle to pull the pump up out of the bilge? bilge pumps should NEVER have an OFF position! Oh, I don't know, the lowest pump probably should. Comes in handy if you have a fuel leak. :-) The AC and all the sinks dump into the bilge on this boat so everything goes through the bilge. That will make for a stinky boat and lead to pump/switch failure. The alarm floatswitch wasn't hooked to the main bilge pump, which I also found strange. Why would you want it going off every time the main pump comes on to empty out the aircon/dish water? I'm not sure how much it will pump, but there'd have to be a BIG hole in the hull before it couldn't keep up. It's more like a firepump! Do the math, I bet the hole is smaller than you think. :-) Capt. Bill |
