![]() "Roger Long" wrote in message ... Bravo, well said. Some of us here, like me, would enjoy knowing more about your boat and plans. -- Roger Long Oh, no real plans. Just putting it into the record. lol My boat is a Rawson 30 ketch, built in 1963, called "Escapade." I'm her second owner, original owner having died a few months before I bought her from the OCC Sailing School in Newport Beach CA about 6 years ago. Moved from Long Beach CA to the Green Bay WI area in 2003, now I sail Green Bay and Lake Michigan, with an eye toward getting back into the salt some day. Green Bay (the bay itself) develops exceptionally nasty short-period waves with little provocation, which can make for some very hairy sailing experiences. Even 15 knots can be challenging if it's blowing from the northeast for very long. I do miss the Pacific rollers. Here it's all waves, no swells. But I've got lots of sailing destinations within easy reach -- islands, coves and bays, nice protected anchorages and access to great cruising grounds if I have the time to visit them. Planning to take a week in July for a nice long sail up to Beaver Island, down the eastern shore of Lake Michigan, then back to Marinette via the Sturgeon Bay canal. Karin |
