Skype's 2007 deal....
I got an email from Skype, today, I've been waiting for....to see what
Ebay, known for "dealin'" was going to do as the free 2006 telephone company comes to a close, and it's one hot deal for Skypers in the USA and Canada. The deal is if you buy a whole year of unlimited outgoing telephone calls to any phone or cellphone in the USA and Canada, including Hawaii and Alaska, for the princely sum of $14.99, you won't be charged in 2007 for the $US0.021/minute listed in the calling rates for Skype Out service. $14.99/year is a flat rate...no minutes, no funny business. No, no, you've got to forget the old telephone company "per month" billing for every tiny service that costs them near 0....That's $US14.99 per YEAR for outgoing telephone service to landlines and cellphones....from any wifi or broad-enough-banded internet link you can hook to! Incoming calls from landlines and cellphones is the same, another princely sum of $US28 for your own telephone number. You also are not forced to take a telephone number where you ARE. You can have one where you want it to be...back home where most of the calls you get come from would be nicer.... So, the wait is over...full wifi VoIP phone service for a whole year 2007 will cost $US42.99. I think that's a real bargain, especially if you have teenagers or kids in colleges running up cellphone charges! (If you're holding Vonage stock, my advise is to DUMP IT QUICK!) Now, if a bunch of boaters at no-wifi marinas were to get together and just put up a freebie wifi in a plastic electric box 15' above the dock...share cable modem charges....get Skype....VOILA! CHEAP BOATPHONES at the "dock condo"! Larry Of course, Skype-to-Skype from anywhere on the planet to anywhere on the planet is always FREE, just like the software...(c; |
