If we add salt, there is neither visible effluent nor odor. Then the answer is obvious: you need to add salt. 'Cuz odor and/or color mean the unit isn't treating. If adding salt corrects it, then that's the problem...But unless LIS is a lot more brackish than I thought it was, you shouldn't have to. Low voltage can also prevent it from treating. So I strongly suggest you have a chat with Vic. He's been there 30 years and knows more about the older systems than anyone else on the planet.
