: Why shouldn't non-profiting parties post links to sources of information about boating products? Wow, that got me in hot water.... When someone posts what a great company Smiley's Boat Electric and Storm Door was to work with, they invariably post their PERSONAL experience story about how Smiley, himself, came down to the boat at 4PM on Saturday and replaced the bad starter solenoid on the old Perkins 4-108 and refused to take the extra money tip for his trouble. Look closely at this post. Doesn't it sound like copy for a radio spot to be read during the boat show on Saturday morning? The boater who posted about Smileys never wrote a radio spot or other advertising copy. HIS post looks more genuine...and is. If I were a commercial interest trying to figure out how to spam the boat newsgroups, for free of course, I'd write a great post about Smiley's.... They don't. |
