Default Calling a spade a Spade (was about chain)

Glenn, you have me drooling - but with any luck, we'll be out at sea by
that time.

What's the likelihood of larger ones - our boat is 35k# - later?

Thanks, and have a good time in the BVI!

We have a superMax which is sort of like a spade only with a claw type
thing on it instead of a spade type thing. Ours is #55 for a #37k
boat (about 48 feet)

The boat came with a 35# CQR, a Danforth, a wishbone and a little dink
anchor. We sold the wishbone and traded the 35# CQR for a 45# one.
We have all chain rode.

We have never used the other anchors - only the SuperMax. The only
time we've had trouble is when the ground was rocky or when it was
scoured. It's super in mud.

Bob said he had read that the trawler group did some tests on the
spade and couldn't get it to set very well, so that's why he didn't
buy it.
