Maybe. After kicking their butts we offered a peace treaty but their rulers
refused saying that their religion forbade them signing peace treaties with
Christian nations. President Jefferson then assured them that the USA was a
secular nation NOT a Christian nation. Satisfied, they signed the treaty
and quit attacking American shipping altho they continued to attack
Christian ships.
