I am currently in Rayong in Thailand. That is right on the gulf of
Thailand. There are lots of charter companies all over Thailand. Phuket and the Andaman sea is some of the best sailing in the world. Winds tend to be steady and right now the weather on shore is hot but a bit out it is cooler. Last time I investigated one, they are sailing out of Pattaya. They have a selection of boats. I was interested in chartering a Beneteau Oceanis 33. The daily rate was 7500 Baht per day for a bare boat and 10,000 Baht per day with crew and meals and soft drinks. I lookeda thte boats andtheya re good and clean. You can charter bigger boats, up to 60 ft and for longer times. Right now is the low sason so prices are better and boats are always available. You can google these to find them Rolf There are great opportunities for sailing here and also for diving. |

I live in thailand, in Phuket on the west coast. The last I heard
there were some boats chartering on Samui but I don't have an address. Try google for Thailand+samui+charter and if you don't get a hit let me know and I will ask the various charter companies here, Sunsail, etc., if they have anything going on that coast. There really isn't much to see on the east coast and Phuket and Phang Nga Bay are far better cruising. You can contact me direct at On 14 Apr 2005 15:28:36 -0700, (Eugene McNally) wrote: Does anyone know of any charter companies in the Gulf of Thailand. Any advice appreciated. Thanks to you both.
There is not much to find on Google on Koh Samui sailing apart from Sunsail. We knew about Sunsail, but they only do flotilla and we wanted bareboat. So If you could make any enquires Anon, it would be great to have more contacts. Is there really not much to see on the east coast ? The few pictures I can see on the net look nice. I appreciate that sailing is much more established out of Phuket, but our research had suggested that this side of the coast was much wetter in August, when we intend to travel.... and that the best anchorages were a bit more exposed at this time of year. Are these both true ? I will look into Phang Nga Bay as I don't know where this is Rolf, Pattaya would be an alternative. What I can glean from the net suggests that the area is not as nice as Koh Samui, but once again there is not a lot of information available. If anyone has sailied in both areas it would be great to get a comparison. Eugene |
