Would be pretty helpful to all, AS of this week.....You can use the WiFi network at Charleston's Ashley Marina for free from any computer in range. Charleston City Marina has a WiFi network, but you have to stop by the office and PAY for a username/password so you can PAY for internet service beyond your dock fees. I doubt Ashley Marina's network will survive the condoization process. Our boating friends decided $125,000 + $200/mo "regime fee" + whatever else they want to assess you for when they run out of money to blow...was a bit much and have already moved, or are in the process of moving. http://www.theharborageatashleymarina.com/ Imagine the law suit these webpages will generate if the deal doesn't close to the original owner, whos business is now ruined by the announcement. I don't think I know any other Charleston marina that provides WiFi service. Both these marinas are in the Ashley River where the ICW turns South out of the harbor, to starboard headed South Charleston Harbor Marina (on the Cooper River in Patriot's Point/Mt. Pleasant) has a free wifi network that I can get in my boat in the marina. Don't know about anchoring though. I know a bunch of other marinas that have wifi, but you usually can only get it near the marina office. Sometimes out on a boat in the marina, but probably not at anchor. Deltaville Marina in Jackson Creek and Doziers on Broad Creek (also Deltaville) Coinjock has a wireless network, but I could not access it. Belhaven Waterway marina has free wireless, but it doesn't go any farther out than on the deck. Oriental Marina has free wireless but only on the deck and in the office Southport Marina also has wireless through the Fish Tales restaurant that you pay for. St. Augustine - there's a wireless network but you have to pay for it in Oyster Creek. You can still log on via landline for free if you are staying in the marina. The same is true for Vero Beach. Miamarina has no connection but Starbucks in the mall has a free wireless connection. grandma Rosalie |
