Yes, it does, doesn't it? You advertise a boat where ads are not
allowed, instead of selling the boat through normal channels. Why?

Doug, I've sold a lot of boats this year and all were sold through quite a
number of channels. I recently sold a Cal 35. The buyer was someone who was in
the C&C group and saw my webpage, asking if I knew of anything in the area. A
Fisher sold via a sign! It happens how it happens and you don't see folks
claiming I sold them a bad boat on the web.
Now go find a hobby. Try sailing.

now you're claiming you've sold lots of boats this year. A few posts back you
claimed this was a "private sale." No wonder everyone thinks you're a chronic
liar.

I be it's the one where the owner
couldn't afford to have the yard replace the keel bolts, so he tried to
do it himself and botched the job.

Keelbolts on the mid 80's Catalina 34, Doug? Catalina had long switched to SS
bolts by then and problems of that nature are rare in models after late 70's.
Maybe you can expose more of your boat ignorance, Doug. Do try!
Nice boat. What makes Doug angry, folks, is that his wife wouldn't allow a nice
big sailboat and he ended up stuck with a trawler. Think I'm making it up?
Search Alt.Sailing.Asa and see for yourself.
Even a modest Catalina 34 drives Doug nuts.

So, you're admitting to running a commercial business on a non-commercial
board?
Isn't that a rather gross violation of your "Rules of User Conduct"?

Nothing commercial about it, Jeff. The Cat34 belongs to a good friend who's
parked 3 slips away.
Do keep trying!

Please explain what my selling of boats has to do with a private sale. Can a
car dealer sell a car privately?
You lose again, but keep trying!

No wonder everyone thinks you're a chronic
liar.

Jeff, only a few nutjobs, who I troll on alt.sailing.asa think that. The folks
I've sold to were treated better than any yard or private seller. The list of
boats I've sold is getting longer and I get calls from folks just seeking fair
advice. I recently stopped a guy from buying the Fisher 25 I had because he had
unrealstic expectations of what the Ketch rig could do. Most sellers would have
laughed and kept going. The Fisher finally sold to someone who knew what she
wanted.

The bottom line is that the charter of this newsgroup is quite explicit:

"The proposed unmoderated newsgroup rec.boats.cruising will not be open
to for-sale postings."

You are in violation of that. The fact the you claim you will not make a profit
on this particular sale is irrelevant. You know the rules - you are
deliberately cheating. One can only assume that this is the way you treat all
of your customers.

Jeff, clearly you're not going to suddenly get a life and you're more than
willing to drag Alt.sailing.asa style trolling into this group.
Maybe you and Doug can continue on your own. Let's see you try.
Buh bye!

Doesn't really matter, Jeff... by now, everybody realizes that Boobsie
is a nut case... and so are his sock puppets...

"Would you buy a used boat from this man?"

Bobsprit,
You should know better, you should have titled the post: OT (Republican
or Democratic) Boat for Sale. Then it would have been proper for this group.
:-)

I would be hesitant to trust anyone enough to purchase anything from them
if they cannot follow such a simple rule.

You won't be buying the Catalina anyway, Steve. No one will be injured by
my
single post and I hardly strafe this group with ads. Someone is going to
get a
good boat for well under her value. It cracks me up that you wouldn't take
advantage of a deal because of where it's posted. If I followed that rule
I
would have missed out on my last boat!
It also cracks me up when people, complaining about ads and the space they
take, actually take time and space to respond to them which insures there
will
be more.
By the way, Rec.Marketplace section is not accepting ads (unless they
fixed it
recently).
