Silverton 31' Convertible Port Engine Over Heating
Hey guys this is my first time posting, hopefully this is a very
active group. I recently purchased a 1980 Silverton Convertible. I have conducted daily boat checks and engine checks althought i find that my port engine over heats. Not over heating to the point of seizing but around 230 degrees. Some people tell me that i may have a tachometer issue althought id rather be safe than sorry. My starboard engine runs beautifully without any issues. If anyone has some ideas or ways to inspect the engine for possible problems, please post up. Thanks alot! |

I just went through thsi with my port engine. My block was full of
scale and my heat exchanger had silicone all over it. I did two things and not sure which one fixed it. 1. I had the heat exchanger ultra-sonic cleaned. Like a big jewerly cleaner. supposed to be the only way to clean silicone from exchanger. 2. I used some products from Penray to clean the scale from the block. www.penray.com I used the twin pack for cleaning and conditioning. I was running at 200 to 210 and now Im running 180. Good luck, Dan (Silverton 31') wrote in message . com... Hey guys this is my first time posting, hopefully this is a very active group. I recently purchased a 1980 Silverton Convertible.
