I live in Atlanta, having moved there from Islip in 1979. I remain a
frequent visitor to "my" bay (I was born and raised in Bay Shore). I want to take my wife and daughter on a mini-cruise of the bay, staying overnight at marinas or on the hook at the towns I used to visit on a regular basis. I used to overnight at Atlantique, Fair Harbor, Sailor's Haven, Watch Hill, Gilgo, etc. I want to revisit those areas, as I used to, by boat. I am a 55 year-old executive with many years' experience in both power and sail. I'm looking for the use of a boat in the 26 to 32 foot range, big enough for me, my wife and daughter to stay aboard comfortably for 5 days to a week. I don't really care if we power or sail, altho I'd feel safer managing somebody else's boat with as little draft as possible. I don't plan to go outside, nor any farther east than Bellport Bay. Mostly, we'll be dockside, although I'd like my little girl to see what it's like to be at anchor overnight. I'm happy to pay for some kind of insurance waiver or explore whatever protections one might need to feel comfortable with "letting out" their boat. Can anybody help us out? Thanks, Steve Podowitz |
