9.9 Yamaha question??
Hi, A neighbor has a 9.9 Yamaha that has been sitting in his garage for
about 15 years. Not sure how well it was stored or fogged or conditioned or what. He has been watching me struggle with all my stuff and now wants to get his 9.9 running again. Any suggestions as to what we should be replaceing or servicing on the engine? Looks like about a 85 or 88. We have serial number and model numbers so can buy the kits online. What service procedures should be done on an engine that sat in a garage for this long? Impeller for sure, the carb kit replacement was easy but is that necessary? I suppose get it running first and flush it completely etc etc, grease, lubes. Anything else you guys can think of? Thanks again. |

Probably change the impeller, take the carb apart and be sure that it is clean and all the passages are open, change the spark plug, check that everything moves freely and is lubed, Check that there is a good strong spark, check that the shift is adjusted correctly. Or being the lazy cuss that I am, maybe just put some gas in it and pull the handle :-) Cheers, Bruce |

9.9 Yamaha question??
Ok, that is the plan, it has actually sat for 20 years in the garage. Looks
like more damage was done just by getting bumped around in the garage. I will order the kits for the carb and impeller and grease it up and down and so on. I am sure there is something in there that will stump us so I will give a report shortly with our trials and errors and so ons. Thanks for the tips and advice again. 73s "WaIIy" wrote in message ...
