Lionfish are said to be a threat to the fishermen there.

Dry??? I spent some time there in the middle seventies, and it sure
wasn't dry then. I hung out with a couple young lobster divers for a
week or so, and the goombay smashes practically killed me. We drank rum
and cocoanut milk, a good part of the time, or Kahlua and cream, just to
try to protect our stomachs.

Those guys would free-dive to a hundred feet, in water as clear as air.
On a completely calm day you could see the lobsters moving around on the
bottom without even using a water glass. And step over the side of the
Whaler in three feet of water, other places, and pick up conchs with
your fingertips.

Barracuda were the problem then, as I'm sure they still are. They didn't
mention lionfish, and I don't recall seeing any. Not to say that they're
not a problem - I just don't recall them.

Definitely no alcohol sold on the island. You have to get the ferry
to Harbor Island to pick up supplies and bring them back. Man o'War
is the same but I don't know of any others.

Lionfish are a new problem since their introduction, not only here but
in the general vicinity like the Keys etc. Big campaigns to get rid
of them.
