Default I sailed this weekend, did any of you pretenders sail?

If you've noticed I didn't post yesterday it's because I went sailing and
anchored out in Florida Bay for the night. There's no wi-fi out there, don't
you know. I decided to get out of the harbor because they were having a
wedding at one of the motels and they play loud obnoxious music all hours of
the night. So obnoxious these lubbers. A bunch of out-of-towners come and
ruin the ambience of the Keys with their drunken debauchery. Sad. Why can't
people be a little more considerate of their fellow man?

But, I did think of you all and I caught up on my replies and even took some
photos to show those of you who only dream about sailing what the watery
world actually looks like from an anchored boat. I took a north, south, east
and several west photos (Sunset) using my Ipod Touch.

If anybody is interested I can upload them and post a link for your viewing
pleasure. I really don't mind some of you living vicariously through me as
that's probably as close to sailing as most of you ever get.

Yep.

Winds 15 to 20, gusting to something obnoxious.

But we sailed...

Attaboy!

Here the winds were light and variable in the morning but filled in nicely
out of the east at 10-15 knots but steady and not gusty. Good afternoon for
a sail. Sunny skies. High temp around 70. Even enjoyed a couple après-sail
beers. Put a nice little pork roast on the barbeque and it was delicious.

Please do.

And yes to the other question, several hours this morning in a one
design Sonar, beautiful day once the fog lifted.

Good for you. I didn't know you could even sail what with that smoke choker
you usually drive.

As you can see by the time sunset came around the wind had died completely
but it came back up an hour or so after sunset.

Modesty prevents me from posting my entire sailing resume, but if you
insist I can give you a few highlights:

6 Newport-Bermuda Races

3 time winner of Long Island Sound distance racing trophy.

Numerous east coast deliveries.

A whole bunch of other stuff.

Only if the depth of the cove exceeds the draft of the boat by some
small amount, and that's not always true around here. :-)

I'd also have to admit that I've never repaired a boom with iron pipe
but then again, I've never broken a boom. I did repair an anchor
windlass with duct tape once if that counts.

Pretty nice spot! I'm jealous of course!
