Isla Mujeres. Make sure you get a proper Zarpa when you head to
Belize.

Do not sail to Mexico. The corrupt *******s will try to seize your
boat for any small imagined infraction. It happed to a friend of
mine, he lost his boat to the corrupt police there.

What kind of "small imagined infraction" was your friend involved in?
It is important to know the rules and follow them. Only in the US are
you presumed innocent until proven guilty, and even here, not always
so much.

It happens every year. There's never a problem. I've sailed to Mexico, came
in in the middle of the night with absolutely no problems.

We have people going back and forth from Florida to Cancun, Cozumel
and Isla Mujeres with no problems also.

Friend sailed to Cancun and had a mediccal problem so went to a doc
who put him on next flight back to USA for surgery nearly unconcious.
By the time he was able to discuss the matter with authorities, his
boat had been seized for failing to register. No amount of legal
string pulling could get it back.

Bummer. I guess it came down to life or death or boat. He could
probably have hired an agent to clear him in if he'd had more time.
Latinos in general are a stickler for details in my experience.
